THE SHORT ANSWER

Four things set the price.

In Istanbul the price of a paint job depends on the surface area (walls and ceilings), the condition of the walls, the grade of paint and whether the home is empty or furnished. When two quotes for the same flat are far apart, it is usually because one of them leaves one of these out.

We write all four into the quote. Send photos and we reply on WhatsApp within 15 minutes during working hours; if a visit is needed, it's free.

WHAT DRIVES THE PRICE

The four lines to read on any quote

  1. Surface area — wall + ceiling m², not floor m²

A 100 m² flat doesn't mean 100 m² of paint: with walls and ceilings the painted surface is usually several times the floor area. Ask what area a quote is based on, and whether ceilings are in it.

  2. Wall condition — the preparation

The real cost difference is preparation: repairing cracks, filling plug and nail holes, scraping flaking paint, skim-plastering and sanding where needed. A cheap job that skips this shows within months.

  3. Paint grade — the range matters as much as the brand

Every major brand has an economy and a premium range, and two ranges of one brand can differ more than two brands do. A quote should name the range, not just the brand.

  4. Empty or furnished

In a furnished home, furniture is gathered, covered and the work moves room by room — slower and more labour. An empty flat is quicker and usually cheaper, which is why move-outs and pre-move-ins are a good moment.

A JOB DONE PROPERLY

Preparation first. Then primer. Then two coats.

Scroll to watch the wall come back to life — then pick a colour and see how the room changes.

These tones are for inspiration only and are not any paint brand's colour codes. We choose from a real fan deck together.

WHAT A PROPER JOB INCLUDES

The checklist of a proper paint job

On our jobs these steps are standard. If you're comparing another firm's quote, ask them the same list.

  • Floor and furniture protection

Floors sheeted, furniture gathered and covered, socket and switch plates removed or masked.

  • Cracks, holes and flaking repaired

Hairline cracks and plug holes filled, flaking paint scraped back; uneven walls skim-plastered and sanded.

  • Primer

New plaster, repaired patches and absorbent surfaces are primed. Water-based paint never goes over old oil paint without the right bonding primer.

  • Two finish coats

Two coats is standard. Going from dark to light may need a third, and that is written into the quote up front.

  • Ceilings and details

Ceilings are done before walls. Door frames, trims, radiators and cornices are listed separately so you know whether they're in.

  • Clean-up and touch-ups

Protection lifted, drips cleaned, and a final walk-round together. The job isn't finished while anything is left on the list.

PAINT GRADES

Which paint, for which room?

"Which brand is best?" has no single answer. The right question is what the room needs.

Matt interior emulsion

The classic choice for living rooms and bedrooms. It hides small wall imperfections best, but isn't made for frequent wiping.

Living rooms, bedrooms, ceilings

Washable / silk-matt

Stands up to a damp cloth. The sensible middle ground for family homes, hallways and rental flats.

Kids' rooms, halls, rentals

Satin / semi-matt

Tolerates moisture and frequent cleaning. Its slight sheen shows wall flaws more, so preparation has to be more careful.

Kitchens, bathrooms, corridors

Anti-damp, anti-mould system

A specific primer plus a finish coat. It only works once the source of the damp is fixed; otherwise the stain comes back.

North walls, bathrooms, condensation

Your quote names the brand and the range; if you'd rather use a brand you've chosen, we use that.

HOW LONG IT TAKES

Drying and preparation set the timeline, not the number of coats.

Every coat needs drying time, and filler and plaster must dry before paint goes on — so two coats can't be rushed into one day. The more repair the walls need, the longer the schedule.

An empty 2+1
Usually done in 3–5 working days.
A furnished flat
Can take a few days longer, because we work room by room.
A single room
A standard-sized room is usually done in a day.

We give the exact schedule for your flat in writing after seeing your photos or visiting.

FURNISHED HOMES · SINGLE ROOMS

You don't need to empty the house. Single rooms are welcome.

In furnished homes we gather and cover each room and move through the house one room at a time; moving large furniture out first speeds things up but isn't required. There's no minimum job size — one room, even one wall, we'll come.

8 questions to ask any painter

Useful even if you don't hire us. If a quote doesn't answer these in writing, it's incomplete.

  1. Does the quote name the paint brand and the range?
  2. How many finish coats, and is there a primer?
  3. What happens with cracks, holes and flaking — and is it extra?
  4. Are ceilings, door frames, trims and radiators included?
  5. How are floors and furniture protected, and who moves the furniture?
  6. Is paint included, and is VAT included?
  7. How many days will it take, and how many people in the crew?
  8. Is there a clean-up and final walk-round, and what if a problem shows up later?

QUESTIONS

What people ask about painting

How much does painting cost in Istanbul in 2026?

It depends on the wall and ceiling area, the condition of the walls, the paint grade and whether the home is furnished. Online per-m² figures rarely include these, which is why they never agree. Send photos and we reply with an itemised price within 15 minutes; if a visit is needed, it's free.

Do you work in English?

Yes. The quote, the scheduling and the updates are handled in English, and the quote is itemised in writing — so you know exactly what you're paying for before anyone picks up a roller.

Is it priced per m² or per flat?

Both are used. We give you a total and spell out the area, coats, paint and preparation it covers, so you can genuinely compare it with other quotes.

How long does a 2+1 take?

An empty 2+1 usually takes 3–5 working days. Furnished flats can take a few days more because we work room by room. We confirm the exact schedule in writing after seeing photos or visiting.

Can you paint a furnished home?

Yes. We gather and cover the furniture, protect the floors and work one room at a time. You don't need to empty the home.

Is the paint included?

We can supply the paint, or use a brand you've chosen. The quote says which, with the brand and range named.

Which interior paint brand is best?

There isn't one. Every major brand has economy and premium ranges, and two ranges of the same brand can differ more than two brands do. We suggest matt for living rooms, washable for kids' rooms and halls, and satin or an anti-damp system for kitchens and bathrooms.

Are ceilings included?

It's listed separately on the quote. Ceilings are usually painted with a dedicated ceiling paint, before the walls.

Can you paint over tiles?

It's possible with the right primer and paint system, but it doesn't last where tiles get constant water, like inside a shower. Send a photo and we'll tell you whether paint or new tiles is the right call.

How do I spot a quote that's cheap for the wrong reasons?

If it doesn't mention primer, filler or plaster, coat count and the paint range, the price is probably low because those steps are skipped — and that comes back within months as flaking, stains and touch-ups.

How soon can you start?

Once the price is agreed we can usually start within a few days. For date-fixed jobs like a tenant move-out, we plan the schedule around that date.

Will you come for just one room?

Yes — there's no minimum. One room, even one wall. A standard-sized room is usually done in a day.
